FOR STUDENTS:

Who is eligible to receive a dress from The Glass Slipper Project?
High school juniors and seniors girls with proof of current school enrollment are eligible to attend The Glass Slipper Project boutiques. Students must present a valid school ID card or a letter from their principal or guidance counselor to prove current enrollment in high school.

While we do not require proof of financial need, we rely on students' honesty to verify financial need.

Each student will be allowed to receive a single dress and related accessories.

When can I shop for my dress?
On the three boutique dates. You must get a number that morning and wait in line to be allowed into the boutique with your personal shopper.

FOR DONORS AND VOLUNTEERS

What clothes can I donate?
The Glass Slipper Project accepts donations of formal dresses, shoes, purses, jewelry and unopened cosmetics and hosiery. Donations should be in new or almost-new condition. Before donating, ask yourself if you would wear or allow your daughter or best friend to wear the item to a black tie event. If the answer is YES— then it is appropriate for donation to The Glass Slipper Project.

Where and when can I bring or send clothing donations?

Please visit our How to Donate page for information on drop-off locations and times as well as where to mail a donation.

Can I send money? What will it be used for?
Yes— The Glass Slipper Project is a grass-roots organization that relies heavily on monetary donations from the public in order to continue operating. Examples of how the money will be used include:

  • Purchasing supplies and renting space for the boutiques
  • Purchasing of dresses, sizes 16 and up (to make up for shortfalls in donations)

Please Note: We are a 100% Volunteer Organization - there are no paid staff members.

On-line Donations

Where can I send money?
Monetary donations can be made by personal check payable to The Glass Slipper Project and sent to:

The Glass Slipper Project
P.O. Box 577915
Chicago, IL 60657

How can my employer or business help?
The Glass Slipper Project relies on the private business community to satisfy many of its operating needs. Examples of the types of assistance we need include:

  • Space for the boutiques
  • Retail clothing supplies (hangers, dress racks, shopping bags)
  • Beauty salon services to provide to the students

Many employers match monetary donations or have charitable foundations that donate money to non-profit organizations. If you are interested in making a monetary donation, please check to see if your employer sponsors a matching program. In addition, contact us at gspchicago@yahoo.com if you are interested and willing to ask your employer for a foundation gift to The Glass Slipper Project.

How can I volunteer? What would I be doing?
We always need help from our volunteers! There are a variety of things you can do, including setting up boutiques, arranging a dress collection at your workplace, and shopping with the student Cinderellas at our boutiques. Check our How to Volunteer page for more information and to sign up for our email list.
